Good morning everyone!
Literacy:
Please rewatch these two versions of the myth of Hades and Persephone, to remind you of the story. Click on the pictures:
Have a chat about the differences between the two versions and discuss which you prefer, giving reasons why.
Then please scan the QR code below to access our Padlet - you will need to add your thoughts in response to the question there.

Once you have done this, please write the WALT: Generate points for both sides of a discussion, then draw a table in your Literacy book (one side 'for', the other 'against', and write down plenty of strong points (with reasons) linked to the question on the Padlet. Mrs Rees will then split you into teams of 'for' and 'against' to hold some debates.
Maths:
We have started to explore properties of 2D shapes. Use the website https://polypad.amplify.com/p#polygons to explore 2D shapes and have a chat with Mrs Rees about what you notice about sides, vertices, symmetry and the lengths of the sides of the shapes.
Year 4, please copy and complete the table below into your maths books, (you can cut and stick shape pictures into the picture column from the sheets Mrs Rees will give you). Include the WALT: Identify properties of 2d shapes.

Year 5, please write the WALT: Further develop my understanding of 2D shapes in your maths book, and use a dictionary to find the definition of a polygon. Write the definition (in your own words) beneath your WALT, then label the polygons on the sheet given to you. On isometric dot paper, please draw some regular and irregular polygons - making sure that you label each one of your drawings clearly with the name of the shape, and the number of sides, vertices and lines of symmetry that it has. All work completed today should be stuck in neatly.
Afternoon
This afternoon, you have PE with Mr Squires (Year 4 first, then Y5 second).
When you are not taking part in PE, you will be finding out about Ancient Greek vases! Look at the PowerPoint below, then draw one of the vases on plain paper - cut it out and stick it in your Topic book, with the WALT: Find out about the pottery of Ancient Greece. All around your vase, write facts about Ancient Greek pottery, to show what you have found out today.
Have a lovely day, and I'll see you tomorrow ![]()

Good morning!
The morning tasks for today are in the image below.

Literacy: We have listened to the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and we began to think about whether or not Orpheus was a hero. Please use the QR codes we stuck into our books on Monday to add to the Padlet - giving your reasons for your thoughts. If Mrs Rees would like to play the story again, before the task, the link is here:
Beneath the QR codes in your book, please draw a line down the middle of the page, and list some reasons for and against Orpheus being a hero (you can magpie some good ideas from the Padlet for this).
*There are spare QR codes on my desk*

Maths
There is a video below to introduce you to multiplying by 10 and 100. Listen to it a few times and sing along! Mrs Rees and Mrs Jefferies will go through the tasks you need to complete following this.
Afternoon
Draw and write about the main parts of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice chronologically (in a comic strip style) in the boxes on the sheets. Most sheets have 8 picture boxes, but there are some with 6, if you are finding the task tricky. Please ensure you write as neatly and as clearly as possible (with your beautiful letterjoin writing) and take time to include detail in your drawings.

Have a lovely day!

Good morning!
I am at a meeting in Olchfa this morning, but I will be back at lunchtime.
It is Remembrance Day today, a memorial day to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty during World War I - Mr Rees will be leading an assembly at 10:15am this morning, then there will be a minute of silence in the yard at 11am, after break.
Literacy
Watch the video and have a look at the examples of Cinquains below. In your Literacy books, please have a go at writing some Cinquains of your own, inspired by Remembrance Day. You could write about poppies, remembering people that aren't here anymore, war, peace, or anything else you come up with on this significant day.
Maths
You will be able to apply your fantastic division skills by answering some worded questions! You don't need to write the questions down, just write the workings and answers in your book.
Have a lovely morning!

Next, in your Literacy book, please write the date and WALT: Write an opening to a diary entry of an Ancient Greek , them write the opening paragraph for YOUR recount. Show your paragraph to three other people to ask them for their opinion on it, and make any edits that you choose to.
REMEMBER: The opening paragraph needs to include WHEN, WHERE, WHAT and WHO.
I look forward to seeing your work when I get back, and hearing how wonderful you have undoubtably been ![]()
