Ysgol Gynradd Cila

Year 6

Croeso i Blwyddyn 6!

Croseo Nol! Welcome back for the Autumn Term, and a brand-new school year!

I am so excited to be apart of your learning journey in what is your final year of primary school, here in Cila. Year 6 is a special year filled with new opportunities, responsibilities, and memorable experiences, and I look forward to working with you to make it both successful and enjoyable.

Our whole school topic for this half term will continue to be 'Off We Go'. For Year 6, we will be studying World War 2, and the many aircraft, machines, technology and inventions which were created within this period of history.

If you have any questions or queries throughout the term, please feel free to contact me via the school office or using my email address; reesg349@hwbcymru.net. Alternatively, you can always catch me at the main school door at the beginning and end of the day. My door is always open!

P.E. Sessions

Wednesday AM (Swimming) – Pupils will need their swimming costume, goggles, a towel and spare bag to put wet kit and towel in.

Friday PM (Swansea City) – Pupils are required to wear appropriate kit and footwear.

Homework, Handwriting & Reading

Termly Homework tasks will be shared with you over the next few weeks. Weekly activities will be set using Active Learn, Spelling Shed, TT Rockstars and Reading Eggs. You can also find a range of helpful websites and additional tasks to build upon classroom learning within the folders on the school website. Additionally, handwriting activities can be found on the LetterJoin website.

Pupils will need their reading books and reading records to be in school every day. I would encourage pupils to be reading for at least 20 minutes a day, so would greatly appreciate your support in your child's reading at home.

Check Up Assessments

New spelling words will be available on Spelling Shed each Friday, ready for the test the following week.

TT Rockstars and Maths Check Up assessments will be carried out on Fridays too.
