Week 5

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for your continued support with homework tasks, the children’s letters were beautiful. This week we learned about mobile phones in the past. The children enjoyed looking at an old fashion phone and comparing them to phones now. We thought about phones in the future and what they might be able to do. The children had marvellous ideas such as phones that fly to your ears, phones that show holograms, phones that have a life long battery, teleporting phones and phones with lazer passcodes! We did lots of number work in math such as ordering numbers, adding 1 more and 2 more, number bonds and recognising teen numbers and beyond.

For homework please go on a number hunt over the weekend. Numbers are all around us (car number plates, numbers on houses, road signs, speed limit signs, prices and weight on food packaging, TV remotes etc). Please write down what numbers you find around the house or when out and about. We will be making instruments next week in class, if you have any plastic bottles with lids or clean metal tins please can you send them into school on Tuesday the 18th.

On Friday October 21st we will be celebrating Harvest. We kindly ask for donations of tins, rice and pasta. These will be donated to food banks in the local area. If you would like to donate any of the above please can they be brought to school from Monday 17th- Friday 21st October.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Francis
