Fantastic Home Learning...

Home Learning Activities week commencing 4 5 2020

Home Learning: Week Commencing 23.03.20

Whole School Safer Internet Day Homework

This term our theme is hands around the world and we will be focusing on both the natural and man made wonders of the world.  We will be reading the novel ‘James and the Giant Peach’. Our Science focus for this term is ‘light’.

Thank you so much for all the donations of recyclable materials over the weekend! They were put to good use today with the children working in groups to create a birds eye view of their chosen artwork. It got very messy but they had lots of fun! All the creations were fantastic! They were well thought out and executed brilliantly. We have been looking at why recycling is good for our environment, particularly the use of single use plastic and how it is damaging our ozone layer and oceans and its inhabitants. We will continue our learning further and hopefully put the recyclable materials to more artwork over the  next few weeks!

Finding out about the Aurora Borealis.

We went on a fact hunt around the classroom to find out information about the northern lights. We have also been creating art work based on the aurora borealis by using water colours.
We have been making clocks to help us learn to tell the time.

Year 2 's trip to the Dunvant Gospel Hall for "Christmas Wrapped Up"

The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch by Tom Fletcher.

We have loved reading this story in class. We have completed two rich tasks linked to the story. The first task we completed was a numeracy task- each group had to design and build Santa’s workshop to specific measurements. We looked at blue prints and drew our own and followed them to complete the workshop. All measurements had to be accurate to within a millimetre. The second task we completed was a science task- the children had to work in groups and try to find the fastest way to get the squishie out of the ice.

The Chrisrmasaurus.
