    Eco School Platinum Award

We are delighted to share the news that we have been awarded our 4th Platinum Eco School Award. This shows our commitment from our first bronze award in 2007 to our 4th platinum award in 2023. We have built on our knowledge and gone from strength to strength over the past 16 years. Eco-Schools is an international programme run in Wales by environmental charity, Keep Wales Tidy and funded by the Welsh Government.

The Eco-Schools programme inspires and empowers pupils to be leaders of change in their community, helping them learn about sustainable living and global citizenship while giving them the information and support they need to make changes that will benefit their school, local environment and wider community, such as reducing waste, energy consumption, transport, biodiversity, healthy living and litter issues.

Thank you for forwarding us your Platinum renewal and supporting evidence. I am pleased to see that Eco-Schools is still running effectively in your school and that you have continued to progress with new projects and ideas even in these challenging times. I am delighted to confirm that you have retained your platinum Eco-Schools status and wish you every success with this year’s projects. Thanks for sharing your fantastic Eco-Schools action plan, I love all the data collected across the many actions highlighting the massive benefits of your work. Being awarded Eco-Schools Platinum status is a fantastic achievement. The school, staff and pupils should feel proud of their hard work and commitment.” Mathew Bunt, Eco school officer.

    Coop Community Fund

A big thank you to Mr. Dan Jones from the Coop in Killay who has supported our application to the Coop Community Fund. We applied for the grant as part of our ongoing environmental work. During our ECO School environmental review we established that we would like to attract more insects to our school garden to support biodiversity and pollination. We applied to the community fund for money towards the purchase of a Critta Cabin. We felt that our school garden would benefit from this and in turn our plants, pupils, staff and the extended school community would benefit from this also as our award winning school garden is much loved by us all.

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application and warmly welcomed Mr. Jones into celebration assembly to present the school with a cheque for £450 to purchase our Critta Cabin.
