This week the children have LOVED becoming scientists!
The children enjoyed the ‘Mad Science’ assembly and got to see all sorts of experiments. We have been busy making paper cup phones and sending messages to one another and using the talking tubes to hear ourselves speak. The children found lots of light sources on the yard and enjoyed making lots of different shapes with their shadows. We made puppets and put on a shadow puppet show in class and enjoyed having a dance with some disco lighting. We will be making our own magnet mazes on Friday, look at our class gallery for some pictures!
As a class we completed E.P.I.C planning at the start of the term, the children have decided that as part of ‘What lies beneath’ they would like to learn more about under the sea and in particular mermaids, pirate treasure, animals that live in the sea and how deep the sea gets. For homework over the half term can you go on a visit to the beach and collect some natural objects ? For example shells, driftwood, seaweed, rocks. We will use these objects to create some art in class next term. Our letter sound after half term will be ‘p’. The rhyme is down the pirate’s plait around the pirates face. Please can the children bring something beginning with ‘p’ with them on Monday for our sound basket?
Thank you all so much for your continued support with homework.
Have a wonderful break,
Miss Francis
