Welcome back Year 2 / 3!!!
We hope you had a lovely Easter holiday and ate lots of chocolate! It's great to be back to some beautiful sunshine to start the summer term. As it's getting warmer please ensure your child brings a sunhat and suncream is applied before school in the morning.
We cannot wait to start our learning journey with you all and dive deep into our topic this term which is 'Once Upon a Time'. We will start by completing our E.P.I.C (Everyone Plans In Class) board to see what we want to learn about this term! I'm sure there will be lots of amazing ideas.
Please familiarise yourselves with our class page as this is where lots of our communication happens. We use it for weekly homework and spelling, as well as sharing lots of photos and videos of our learning in class.
As always, contact us via email on phillipsc303@hwbcymru.net / evanss527@hwbcymru.net if you have any questions or concerns (or something wonderful to share with us!)
Homework/Spellings
Homework will be given out on a Friday and will need to be returned by the following Monday. We will upload the homework onto the class page unless we need to provide a paper copy of any resources.
Spellings will also be uploaded to the class page on a Friday and these words will be tested the following Friday in class.
PE
P.E. is on a Tuesday and Thursday. All children will need to wear suitable clothes and trainers on these days.
We had the most lovely World Book Day!
We chatted about the characters we were dressed up in and did a class character quiz!
We had a rotation of activities this morning including our book reviews, character descriptions, redesigning book covers and making bookmarks.
This afternoon we completed a visualisation activity. We listened to different pieces of music and drew characters we thought the music sounded like. They were amazing! We had a drama workshop with Mr Stockton and the children had lots of fun! We have read lots of stories today, including our favourite pigeon books!
Mrs Rees has said the children had a (chicken!) ball today tasting lots of traditional foods from China. They had egg fried rice, noodle soup, vegetable spring rolls and dumplings, lychees in syrup, fruit pudding, fruit mallows, snap pea crisps and prawn crackers with hoisin and sweet chilli sauce to dip!

Each year we attend a Christmas event in Upper Killay Congregational Church and sing some Christmas songs. This year we are unable to attend due to the pandemic but have been asked if we could record the pupils singing a few songs. Please click on the wreath below to give consent.
We had the best intentions with our bonfire night artwork. The children used oil pastels to fully colour in a blank sheet and then completely covered it in black paint. Patiently, overnight we let them dry and we were so excited to scratch our bonfire night designs using toothpicks - however we were VERYYY disappointed that the colour didn't come through!
Some of the boys were very keen to try all ways to get the colour to come through; with little success, so we gave up! It was a great way to discuss the fact that not everything goes to plan! Hope they all had fun in the process!!!!
