Welcome to Reception/Year 1
The children have been fantastic this week and have settled back into school well; they are a credit to you and the school.
This term our new topic is 'Elements'. The children have created KWL grids and thought about what they already know and what they would like to learn about.
Reading
Your child will be given a designated reading day (you should have been informed of your child’s reading day via text message). Please make sure that their reading book and reading diary is in their bag on this day.
PE timetable
The children will be taking part in PE every Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure that the children come to school in their PE kit and suitable trainers.
Homework
Homework will be given out every Friday and will need to be returned to school the following Monday unless otherwise stated.
If you have any questions/queries please do not hesitate to get in contact,
Miss Francis
We had a great time today!
We talked about different ways we can express ourselves. The children listened to some music and drew/painted/chalked how the music made them feel. We then opened an ‘art gallery’ in class where the children shared and spoke about their work. We expressed ourselves through some dancing and made up our own stories to share with the class.
Earth Day 2021
To celebrate Earth Day 2021 we have made posters about how we can help save our planet. We spoke about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. The children had to be super worms today and dig for treasures in the soil. The children sorted the objects they found into recyclable and non recyclable materials.
In class we have been learning about our rights and the UNCRC. The children were given their own Jelly babies to look after for the day. The children made sure that the Jelly babies rights were met. Each child gave their Jelly baby a name, made healthy foods and drinks for them out of Playdough and made houses for them in the construction area. They all paid a visit to the doctors to make sure their babies were healthy. The children taught them how to read, write and count. We had lots of fun!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
