The children have been working really hard in school this week. We have started looking at the storybook 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We even had a letter from Jack asking for our help with the giant! The children have created story maps, thought about what they would do if a beanstalk grew in their garden, learned about a bean's life cycle, and learned about what a plant needs to survive. Jack has said he will be giving us some magic beans next week, the children are looking forward to planting their own beanstalks. In math, we have been learning about money. The children have been incredible recognising all the coins, working out amounts and giving change.
Please set up a role play shop in the house for homework this weekend. It could be any shop that suits you! A food shop, a toy shop or even an ice cream parlour! Give the children opportunities to be a shop keeper giving change and a customer working out amounts. The children will enjoy handling real money.
They could even write their own shopping lists!
See the pictures below for some ideas.
