A message from Rio

Rio is missing you all a lot and can’t wait to see you! He’s been trying hard with his home learning and even did some planting for Earth day. Rio has been having lots of hugs with my cheeky dog Ted, they like playing catch together. He has enjoyed reading lots of different books especially ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ but he was a bit scared of the big bad wolf! Rio has been staying safe and is remembering to sing ‘Baby Shark’ when he washes his hands. He has enjoyed listening to our favourite class song and has been dancing to it every day (I have put this on the class page so you can all have a dance and sing). He wanted me to tell you that he is so proud of you all, he has drawn a rainbow to remind you to stay home and stay safe.

Lots of love,

Rio xxx

Whole School Safer Internet Day Homework

Spring Term

The theme this term is 'Hands around the World'. The children have decided they would like to look at different countries and continents around the world. We started looking at Antarctica and researched what animals live there and how they survive. The children enjoyed making fact files about the animals and looking at information text about how the animals adapt to the extreme weather conditions. We made paintings of the animals using different shades of colour. We have now started looking at China as part of celebrating Chinese New Year, we have enjoyed hearing the traditional Chinese story of Nian and the story of the zodiac. We are currently learning about Egypt.

We have enjoyed presenting our pyramids to the class!

Autumn Term

The theme this term is flight. The children have been participating in planning and discussing what they already know about flight and what they want to find out. To start the topic the children have decided they would like to learn about butterflies. To provide authentic learning experiences for the children we have caterpillars in class, the children are enjoying looking after them and observing how they change day to day. We are really excited to see them turn into butterflies.

We have been using the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle this week to help us with our understanding of butterflies...

Butterflies (we have named them Dash, Stripes and Bob)
