Rec/Year 1

Welcome to Reception/ Year 1!

The topic this term is 'Elements' the children have decided that they would like to link their learning to the film 'Moana'.

We have looked into the life of people living on the island of Motunui and discussed what food sources are available to them. We thought about why planting and growing food was so important to the people in the film in order for them to survive. We have had a go at planting our own cress and are enjoying watching it grow! We especially enjoyed getting our hands dirty!

Looking for things that are living in our school grounds...

This term our theme is 'Looking back'. In class we activated our prior knowledge and made a mind map to see what we know already about the past. The children have then decided they want to find out a bit more about dinosaurs, babies and what school was like in the past. We really enjoyed playing guess who with our baby pictures and looking at how much each of us has changed!

Monday- Homework due in.

Wednesay and Thursday- Physical Deveopment lessons children to come to school dressed appropriately.

Friday- Show and tell. Homework given out. Spelling/ sound tests.

If you gave any questions/queries please do not hesitate to ask,

Miss Francis.
