Welcome back!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter break. I'm so pleased to be covering Miss Francis while she has her baby! We've taken part in E.P.I.C planning (Everyone Plans In Class) where the children helped guide our learning by sharing their ideas, questions and interests. The topic this term is 'Achieving, Building, Celebrating'. We will be doing lots of Expressive Arts and Science & Tech, looking at the Gruffalo and woodland habitats. The children shared what they already know (achieving), and what they would like to learn about over the next term (building).
Please ensure that your child comes to school each day with a water bottle and coat. As the weather gets warmer, please try to bring in hats, as we will try to be outside as much as possible!
Children are welcome to bring fruit to school to eat during morning play.
PE
PE will take place every Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that all children wear appropriate clothing and footwear to school on these days.
Reading
Pupils each have designated reading days. On your child’s reading day they will read their book to the class teacher/TA who will then change their book(s) if it is appropriate. Please ensure that your child’s reading book(s) and red reading diary record is in their bag on their reading day. It is important to fill out your child’s reading record as this is a good way to track reading progress and inform us of any difficulties or achievements your child has made whilst reading at home. Please note that if your child is unsure whilst reading a book it may be re-sent home in order to develop confidence and fluency. Reading at home with your child is extremely important. You do not have to read the books in 1 sitting, little but often is great.
Homework/Spelling
New spelling words are uploaded each Friday. Please ensure that the children learn these words throughout the week, the children will then have a mini spelling test on Friday morning the following week. The groups will stay the same this term - if you need a reminder email/ask.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or to share special news and achievements on morrise500@hwbcymru.net
Many thanks,
Miss Morris
